Chessing Terms of Service
Effective date: 10 October 2026
These terms are the rules for using Chessing. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. Please read both.
1. Acceptance
By creating a Chessing account you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't create an account or use Chessing.
2. What Chessing is
Chessing helps you find patterns between your daily habits (sleep, food, stress, social contact and more) and your chess performance. It measures your game accuracy with the Stockfish chess engine and provides AI-written summaries of your patterns. It also includes optional features that connect you with other users (friends, matching, messages, comments, and opponent preparation), and chess puzzles, a daily puzzle and quizzes, including quiz duels with friends.
3. Not medical or professional advice
Chessing does not provide medical, psychological, nutritional or other professional advice. The AI summaries, correlations, nutrition estimates and suggestions are generated from your own data and can be wrong, incomplete or misleading. Do not change your medication, diet, sleep or treatment based on Chessing alone. Talk to a doctor, therapist, dietitian or other qualified professional about any health concern, especially anything involving medication, sleep disorders or mental health.
If you think you may be in danger or are in a mental health crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis service right away. Do not rely on Chessing in that situation.
4. Eligibility and accounts
- Chessing is for people of any age. You must enter your real date of birth.
- If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must approve your account before you can log in or enter data. Section 6 of the Privacy Policy explains how this works.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. Tell us immediately at chessing.support@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.
- Each person may have one account. You may not link a Chess.com or Lichess account that isn't genuinely yours, or link the same chess account to more than one Chessing account.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are;
- harass, threaten, abuse or send unwanted messages to other users;
- share another person's health information, log entries or messages without their permission;
- use Chessing to collect data about other users beyond what its own features provide;
- scrape, copy or automatically collect content from Chessing, or run bots against it;
- attempt to access another user's account or data, or to bypass rate limits or other security controls;
- interfere with or disrupt Chessing's servers or infrastructure;
- use solvers, scripts or anyone else's help to cheat on the daily puzzle or in quiz duels;
- use Chessing for anything illegal, or post content that is illegal or infringes someone else's rights.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you submit: daily log entries, messages, comments and similar content. You give us a licence to store, process and display that content only as needed to operate Chessing. This includes processing it with the services described in the Privacy Policy, and showing it to you and, where a feature is designed to share it, to other users according to your settings. We don't sell your content.
You are responsible for what you post or send. Do not post content about another person that you wouldn't be comfortable having shared with them.
7. Other users
Friends and other users can see what you have chosen to share, according to your privacy settings. We are not responsible for what other users do with content they can see, including screenshots. If another user harasses you, you can block them in the app and tell us at chessing.support@gmail.com.
8. Third-party services
Chessing uses Chess.com and Lichess to fetch public game data, and Anthropic's Claude AI to generate summaries and estimates. It uses Postmark to send email. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to your use of them. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or changes that affect Chessing.
9. Fees and changes to the service
Chessing is free to use at the moment. We may introduce paid features in the future. If we do, we will tell you at least 30 days before any charge starts, we will not charge you without your agreement, and we will explain what changes for your account. We may also add, change or remove features. If we remove a feature you rely on, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account in settings at any time. Section 7 of the Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, or if we reasonably believe your account poses a risk to Chessing or other users. Where we can, we will tell you why.
11. Disclaimers
Chessing is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that Chessing will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its analysis, correlations, AI summaries or estimates will be accurate or suitable for your situation. We check quiz questions and answers carefully, but they may occasionally contain mistakes.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chessing and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of Chessing.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Chessing is limited to the amount you have paid us for Chessing in the 12 months before the claim. Chessing is currently free, so that amount is zero.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any statutory rights you have as a consumer.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we will tell you at least 30 days before they take effect, by email and in the app. If you keep using Chessing after that, you accept the changes. If you don't accept them, you can delete your account before they take effect.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Lebanon. Before starting any formal dispute, please email chessing.support@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it. If we can't, disputes go to the courts of Lebanon. This does not remove any mandatory rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
15. General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. The Privacy Policy forms part of these terms. Our failure to enforce any term is not a waiver of it.
