Board Vision
Memorise the pieces. When they disappear, a square lights up: tap the square of the piece that could move there. Find them all.
Pieces move to the squares you find. Find as many as you can in time; each mistake costs 1 second.
King Hunt
Plan your piece’s route to the black king: tap the squares it will stop on, in order, then press Check. Take nothing on the way, and never stop where a black piece could take your piece. It must be done in exactly the number of moves given.
Lone King
The black king is missing. Place it three times: where it’s checkmated, where it’s stalemated, and where White to move can mate in 1. Each has exactly one right square.
Trade?
Trade the pieces, or keep them? Each position is from a real game, where the player to move could start an exchange. Choose: A make the trade, or B the other move. Then see why, move by move.
Tap a piece to move it into an empty square. Pieces move as in chess: rooks slide straight, bishops diagonally and queens either way, as long as the squares they pass are empty; kings move one square in any direction, knights jump in an L, and pawns step one square forward (up) only. If a piece can reach two empty squares, tap it, then tap where it should go.
The dark king never moves. It's checkmate when the king is in check and every square next to it is covered: attacked by one of your pieces, or a nailed block. One of your pieces standing next to the king must be protected by another, or the king could simply take it. Pawns attack one square diagonally up.
